Announcement of revised domestic prices for the iruka series — a comment from Founder Mark Kobayashi on the reasons and background

Starting on December 1, 2026, we will revise the retail prices in Japan for the existing models iruka S and iruka C.

With the launch of the new model iruka X, the prices of the three iruka models will be as follows:

 

iruka X: JPY 269,800

iruka S: JPY 269,800 (previously JPY 254,800)

iruka C: JPY 209,800 (previously JPY 199,800)

 

Regarding this price revision, Mark Kobayashi, Founder and President of iruka Inc., commented as follows:

 

“In response to rising costs such as shipping expenses and material prices, we have decided to raise the domestic prices of the two existing models, timed with the launch of the new iruka X.

 

The internal 8-speed iruka S and the newly introduced external 9-speed iruka X feature contrasting drivetrain mechanisms, but both offer a wide gear range and are designed to perform comfortably across a wider variety of riding conditions. Choosing between the two is ultimately a matter of personal preference; by my own standards, they occupy the same position within the lineup. For this reason, we have set the same price for iruka S and iruka X in both domestic and overseas markets.

 

The internal 5-speed iruka C, on the other hand, has fewer gear steps compared to S and X, but provides a gear range that is more than sufficient for everyday urban riding. In terms of overall product completeness, it is in no way inferior to the other two models. After all, it is the model I ride most often in my own daily life. While the price difference compared to S and X may feel significant, this is not because the C has less value, but because we have prioritized keeping it as accessible as possible as a comfort-oriented value model, so that more people can experience iruka.

 

Each of the three iruka models has its own strengths, roles, and reasons to be chosen.
