Born in Shizuoka and a graduate of Keio University’s Faculty of Business and Commerce, he began his career at Mori Building before leaving to become one of the founding members of Opt Inc., one of Japan’s largest internet advertising agencies. While serving as CFO, he oversaw finances and overall administration, and led the IPO project through to the company’s successful listing on JASDAQ in 2004. In 2008, he left Opt and, with no prior experience in the bicycle industry, founded iruka Inc.
