Announcement of revised pricing for iruCandle and reopening of orders in Japan — a comment from the Founder

Starting on June 28, 2026, we will revise the domestic retail price of iruCandle in Japan.

iruCandle is an adapter that allows Brompton and Rixen & Kaul carrier attachments to be mounted on the Coupler that comes standard under the saddle of iruka. It can also be used on bicycles other than iruka when a separately purchased Coupler is attached to the saddle rails. So it makes it possible to mount Brompton and Rixen & Kaul bags behind the saddle of almost any bicycle (carbon saddle rails are not recommended).

Former price: JPY 3,800
New price: JPY 4,800

After the first lot for Japan sold out through pre-orders, we temporarily suspended orders on our official online store in Japan. We are reopening orders from today.

Regarding this price revision and the reopening of orders, Mark Kobayashi, Founder and President of iruka Inc., commented as follows:

“iruCandle, for which we started taking orders on June 18, sold out its first lot for Japan in just three days.

In the letter I wrote at the time of the announcement, I said, ‘It seems people wanted to put a bag there even more than I thought.’ But apparently, it was even more than I had thought.

Production for the next lot has already started, and I think it will arrive in a few weeks.

There is, however, one problem. The recent rapid weakening of the yen against the US dollar. We do business with overseas suppliers in US dollars, so the weaker yen directly pushes up our production costs.

So, although I really do not want to do this (I really mean that), we have decided to raise the domestic retail price in Japan from the next lot, so that we and our sales partners can secure an appropriate margin and continue to supply the product in a stable way.

You may feel it is strange for us to announce a price increase for the next lot just after shipments of the first lot have started, and indeed I do not think there are many precedents for that, but I would appreciate your understanding.

Oh, and I still have not mentioned the most important thing. Thank you to everyone who ordered from the first lot.”
